WebPhonological awareness is the ability to tune it to the spoken word and recognise different speech sounds. Phonemes play a crucial part in this- they are the individual sounds within words. Having phonological awareness means being able to distinguish between these sounds (phonemes), and blend the individual sounds together to make a word. WebThe Virginia Kindergarten Readiness Program (VKRP) measures mathematics, self-regulation, and social skills to complement Virginia’s state-wide assessment of literacy using the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS).
